On a Tuesday morning in February 2024, something invisible stopped working across half of Europe.

The pilots noticed first.
Aircraft depend on GPS like a person depends on their eyes.
It tells them where they are to within three meters.
It synchronizes their instruments.
It keeps them in the right sky lane, separated from other planes by invisible walls of precision.
When the signal died, that certainty evaporated.
One moment a plane knew its exact latitude and longitude.
